Technology and social media change the live show and festival circuits.  Artists and the brands have been keen to test their hand when it comes to music-related tech innovations.

For example, the tech innovation in live shows and festivals is virtual reality concerts. The development of more sophisticated VR headsets combined with their wider adoption has opened new doors for companies to produce products that bring concerts and shows to fans.

Live Nation, Medley VR from NEC and Sony Music Visualize are just a few examples of music companies working on virtual reality.

They seek to bring live shows from some of the world’s greatest artists to homes around the world.

The American festival Coachella has teamed up with Vantage.tv to give festival-goers, and those who have completely missed, the opportunity to take a virtual tour of the festival site.

The VR experience of concerts and music festivals is not unique, in fact, Gorillaz produced a VR video in 2017 for their song Saturn Barz which broke a Youtube VR record at the time, get 3 million views in two days. And now, the virtual reality video has been viewed more than 17,192,347 times since March 23, 2017.

The blues/rock band Guns N'Roses announced, through the voice of Slash, its legendary guitarist, that the band would, as part of its world tour, record an exceptional concert in virtual reality. in a zoo. This is great news for the fans of the band who had a worldwide success in the late 80’s and the 90’s and who had been waiting for more than 20 years to see the band with its initial formation play again on stage.

The music business has always had to react to change – new formats, new technology and new business models mean an industry in a constant state of transformation. The internet and, more specifically, social media, has been incredibly disruptive to the music business and so labels and artists have had to adapt.
